listen to: Sensory Signal Mix 005 – Hot Take
(I promise I’m bringing da psychedelic stoner and triphop vibes to release your inhibitions.)
hot take is a chicago-based deejay whose fondness of peculiar sounds burns as strongly as his love for the electronic underground. immersed in music from a young age, he was molded during his formative years by grunge and psychedelic/stoner rock before evolving into his current sonic palette of leftfield electronics.
at flop, hot take will conjure the moment after the festival/rave/party when you’ve just gotten home, the drugs haven’t quite worn off yet, and you can FINALLY take off your shoes and socks. uninhibited relief and comfort – the perfect formula for a flop into the deep end of the bean bag.
something that makes me relax, float, flop: Chris SSG’s set at Draaimolen 2025.

he was opening the moon stage on saturday (day 2) of the festival and we arrived to see people chilling in what appeared to be a sandpit stage with a sofa or two dotting the scene (pic included). we truly didn’t know what to expect both from this stage or this.

jack galactic

something that makes me relax, float, flop:
- The 5th Exotic by Quantic – a quintessential album for me that encapsulates everything I love about that era of trip hop/beatmaking
- Binding by Nilüfer Yanya – the perfect song to flop to. The simple guitar loop and Nilüfer’s gorgeous vocals always hit me like a truck and induce instant melancholy.
- DJ Krush mixtapes – one of the best to ever do it. I love discovering an old DJ Krush mixtape I’ve never heard before and diving in. His approach to djing always inspires me.
- Love Deluxe by Sade – duh
- “Mom’s Cleaning Music” – this is a playlist I made a few years ago that solely consists of the music my mom would play while she cleaned the house as I was growing up. Annie Lennox, Seal, George Michael, Savage Garden, Everything but the Girl, Sade, etc. It always amazes me how music you haven’t listened to in years can unlock the feelings and senses of that time, almost like time traveling. This playlist feels like a crisp Autumn day in 2002 and pure childhood bliss.

musa
listen to: fronteras sonoras x fronterizza invita a musa @dramaradiobar
illustrator, dancer, and co-founder of Best In Town Sound – carries us deeper. while ‘ethereal’ is bandied about a bit too freely these days, her sets really bring it there: unfurled with ease, developed at a considered pace, and always in tune with the space.
as one of the founding members of best in town sound, a diy collective born out of the pandemic, she’s committed to uplifting and empowering underrepresented artists both on and off the dancefloors while intentionally curating safe spaces for artists and audiences to share their love of music.
something that makes me relax, float, flop: this animation instantly relaxes me: there’s something about this short animation that feels like melting into the warmth of a patch of sun on a nice day. i connect so deeply with this feeling of softening into its essence, its glow.

Artist Statement: If you could return to a place that no longer exists, where would you go? How would you get there? How do you have a conversation with the past about the future? These are some of the questions that guide me as I shake off the dust from a long lost building, move along the lines of a blueprint and into the faded memory of a distant home.
